Glass Mosaic Tiles : what it is ?

Glass mosaic Tiles is a general tiles, made up of Pure Glass and is used for Exterior Home Design. This tiles are very small in size and its sizes are 10mm x 10mm, 15mm x15mm, 20mm x 20mm, and 24mm x 24mm. Its thickness is 2mm for all sizes. Most often 20mm x20mm are generally used in the market and all over. Various colors are also available in this tiles and the colors of this doesn’t fade  at all ever. This tiles colors are so strong that even on continuous wash with any detergent or any soap, its color remain intact and its shine also remain for ever, without any little fade.

Most of the Glass mosaic Tiles that are 20mm x 20mm in size, are little porous on surface. This pores are not visible easily. There  is no problem in having pores, but only during complete installation process , a little washing is required to remove the grout that are used to fill the gap in between the tiles. (About the Grout i will give full detail on it, in my upcoming blog ). These porous tiles are less costly that non porous glass mosaic tiles. Non-porous glass mosaic tiles also do comes, and in various color. These non-porous have smooth surface and no grout get stuck on the surface of the while grouting. And cleaning process of non porous tiles is also easy

Structure of Glass Mosaic Tiles :

Generally Glass Mosaic Tiles are square in shape. Its corner and edges are sharp. Those glass mosaic whose corner and edges are not sharp are not good in quality and are non-branded. Fine fixing and finishing on wall of these glass mosaic are based on it corner and edge sharpness. There are 2mm gap placed in between the tiles on all four sides.in this gap grouts are filled for proper binding of tiles with each other. These gaps are uniform all over the tiles and this gaps are machine made. These gaps are very important for durable fixing and most important these gaps provide excellent beauty on wall.

Individual pieces of Glass mosaic are not placed and fixed on the wall, rather they are arrange and pasted on thick brown paper in a number of 225pieces. These 225pc. makes 1.15 sq.feet in size. In some cases instead of paper, plastic net are also used on which tiles are fixed and pasted. Paper mounted glass mosaic are very easy to fix it on wall, comparing to net mounted Glass mosaic Tiles. Net mounted Glass mosaic are also costly .
